SAM's native logical volume monitoring via SNMP is identical to that of NPM's. Have you tried managing the Linux/Unix node via SNMP and clicking "List Resources" to select the volumes you wish to monitor? The template you reference above is for those who need additional information or require a non-SNMP solution for their Linux/Unix server monitoring. If you wish to use this template for monitoring your logical volumes instead of SNMP, you can copy/duplicate the component as needed with relative ease to monitor additional logical volumes beyond the root under [Settings - SAM Settings - Manage Component Monitors within Templates] as pictured below.
