Prior to purchasing NCM we were using CAT tools to backup our network equipment configurations and to notify us when configuration changes were made. NCM has filled that niche in our company and has offered many other benefits. One of the items that has saved my bacon is the ability to make configuration changes to all my switches or routers , this has saved me hours and hours of work and has allowed me to make changes in a timely manner. I also love the ability to review and compare configurations so I have a quick way to determine who made a change, roll a change back or determine if a change may have been the root cause of an issue.
We choose SolarWinds NCM as it offered the functionality we were looking for all in one product. We have been using NCM for close to a year and it has performed well and we are looking forward to spending more time with the product so we can learn to utilize it to its fullest.
