Ideally I'd prefer to have agentless wherever possible. It's fast to deploy, gets approved via change control a lot easier but also because having to upgrade a bunch of agents when you upgrade the monitoring solution can be a fair amount of pain.
If the agent upgrade does not require a host reboot or put too much demand on the host server during the upgrade then I can live with that. Also, if the agent is pushed out from the monitoring solution centrally and manages the upgrade then that makes me happy to Image may be NSFW.
