The Cisco link you provided appears to be for older devices running an IOS operating system.
These Nexus switches are based on Linux Kernel and I suspect there other counters at play here.
I may do an SNMP Walk on a Nexus switch and see if I can pickup which interface counter might be incrementing to cause NPM to see TX discards.
